What is Sensitivity Reading?

Sensitivity reading involves reviewing a manuscript to highlight areas where cultural, social, or identity-based elements might unintentionally misrepresent or harm a specific group of people. This service aims to enhance inclusivity and authenticity in your writing while maintaining the integrity of your creative vision.

What I Review For

I specialize in providing feedback on:

• Representation of Muslim characters, faith, and culture.

• Depictions of South Asian culture.

• Gender roles and experiences, As a women, oldest daughter, middle child and only girl among two brothers. 

• Portrayals of mental health, trauma, or sensitive social issues,

• Language and tone that might unintentionally alienate or offend,

• First-hand knowledge of the complexities faced by migrated families.

• Experience living in an arab country, hence exposure to Arabic culture and norms.

How Can I work with you?

1. Send me your manuscript details, including a brief synopsis, genre, trigger warnings, and word count to sarah.narrativenook@gmail.com . Mention any specific concerns or areas you’d like me to focus on during the sensitivity read.

2. I’ll carefully review the details to determine if I'm fit for your manuscript, If yes I'll qoute you a customised price and provide a rough turnaround date.

3. After payment, I'll read through your manuscript, noting potential issues and providing constructive suggestions for improvement.

4.  On the day of the deadline, You’ll receive a detailed report highlighting areas of concern, actionable recommendations, and guidance to help you revise your story effectively.

Turnaround Time:

• Typically 10–14 business days, depending on the word count. Expedited services available for an additional 15% of the quoted price.
